Jill, a (now) single woman living in Vancouver, was asked to move in with her boyfriend a few years back. The trouble was his apartment was in desperate need of a woman’s touch; there was simply no way she could move into his space the way it was. Taking your shoes off wasn’t an option and the bathroom should have had an ‘enter at own risk’ sign on the door. Jill quickly revamped the apartment by going through each room cleaning, purging and documenting what he needed to make his home girlfriend friendly. New sheets, towels, a clean shower, food in the fridge, throw cushions, a warm blanket, an area rug, a few candles and voila!
She started helping his friends and brothers with their homes and wardrobes and realized that the root of the problem went much deeper than just cleaning and buying a few new things. These bachelors were completely disconnected from their homes, were embarrassed about the amount of clutter they had accumulated and hadn’t even considered their space from a woman’s perspective. They lacked the confidence to ask a woman out and have her spend the night in fear of being exposed.
